Marriage is a big step in life, which comes with big responsibilities. In order to make sure your spouse is covered in the event of a tragedy, we recommend everyone (not just those married)take the following steps upon employment with the carrier.

Set-up an Account with the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB)

  • Anytime RRB benefits are paid, (unemployment, sickness, survivor) an account is needed. Take the time to set one up today! It can be done easily online at You must request a PRC (password request code) which will be mailed in around 10 days. Once you receive your PRC by mail, you may access your account online with RRB as well as change your PRC
  • Once you have established an account with the RRB, we recommend you submit all vital records with them. In order for benefits to be paid, the RRB needs to have copies of your, your spouse, and any children's birth certificates, your marriage license as well as both your, your spouse, and children's social security numbers. This can only be done by taking the originals of each directly to the Railroad Retirement Board offices in Denver. They will not accept copies that you make. They are located at 721 19th Street Denver, CO in Room 177. They are open from 9:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Monday thru Friday, and closed on weekends and holidays. It is never too early to submit these records to the RRB.
